Metagenics, Inc. has been awarded two new patents for discoveries relating to its research on the anti-inflammatory properties of reduced iso-alpha acids (RIAA) derived from hops. USPTO rejects patent claims asserted against Precision BioSciences

Nos. 6,833252, 7,214,536, 6,610,545 and 7,309,605 that are owned by the Institut Pasteur and the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, and licensed to Cellectis, SA (ALCLS).

Trius receives patent protection for torezolid phosphate in the U.S.

Trius Therapeutics, Inc. announced today the issuance of Patent Number 7,816,379, entitled "Oxazolidinone Derivatives," by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). PhRMA representatives meet with officials in India to discuss compulsory licensing

During a visit with government officials, industry leaders and NGOs in India last week, representatives from Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), a U.S. lobbying group that represents the country's pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology companies, addressed "the Indian government's proposal to allow local drugmakers to make low-cost version of patented drugs so that they can be made available to patients," the Economic Times reports.
