En Ze Jia Shi Pharmaceuticals receives patent for controlled-release oral gliclazide

Lotus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.a fast-growing, profitable developer, manufacturer and seller of medicine and drugs in the People's Republic of China announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, En Ze Jia Shi Pharmaceuticals, has been issued a patent by the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China for controlled-release oral gliclazide. The patent covers the composition and preparation methods for the drug through 2030.

Smith & Nephew receives favorable judgment in KCI's patent litigation

The Advanced Wound Management division of Smith & Nephew, Inc., a subsidiary of Smith & Nephew plc today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas entered a favorable judgment in the patent litigation brought by Kinetic Concepts Inc. relating to the Smith & Nephew RENASYS-F (Foam) dressing kit.

U.S. District Court issues decision in NPWT patent litigation

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas has issued a decision in the patent litigation between Kinetic Concepts, Inc. Wake Forest University and Smith & Nephew, Inc. The Court held that the patent claims licensed by KCI from Wake Forest University and asserted in this litigation are invalid.

USPTO issues Watson Notice of Allowance for key progesterone patent to treat or prevent preterm birth

Columbia Laboratories, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a Notice of Allowance for a key patent for the use of progesterone to treat or prevent preterm birth. The USPTO issues a Notice of Allowance to report that a patent application has been examined and is allowed for issuance as a patent. The patent is expected to issue within three months upon payment of required fees.

Essentialis receives patent for active component in DCCR product

Essentialis, Inc. announced today that the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,799,777 entitled Salts of potassium ATP channel openers and uses thereof. The patent claims a novel composition of a polymorph of diazoxide choline, the active ingredient in the Essentialis lead product, DCCR. Essentialis has successfully completed phase 2b clinical trials with DCCR, showing a highly significant triglyceride reduction in dyslipidemic patients.
